Packing yourself is the best way to save money on moving costs. The more you’re packed up and ready to go, the less time it will take movers to pack or move your items. The more prepared you are for your move and the more small things you can do for yourself, the more money you will save.
Other Tips:
- sell or donate items you no longer want
- pack up all small items ahead of time
- wrap and pack all fragile items yourself
- pack and move valuables yourself
- disassemble furniture ahead of time
- choose a staging area for packed boxes
- keep pathways clear so movers can move easily
